Recommended Choice

A course selected from a specified list to optimize the development of knowledge, skills, and habits of mind necessary to be successful in a particular pathway map. This course will have alternatives noted. This course often serves multiple purposes, optimizing the development of knowledge, skills, and habits of mind necessary in the pathway map while fulfilling general education requirements.

Recommended Co-Requisite

A specific course, subject, or requirement NOT coded as a co-requisite in SIS that a student should take simultaneously with another course in order to build the knowledge, skills and/or habits of mind necessary to be successful in both courses.

Recommended Course

A course within the pathway map that does not currently fulfill a certificate or degree requirement (e.g. certificate or associate), but optimizes the development of knowledge, skills, and habits of mind necessary to be successful in a particular field of interest.  It does not have a noted alternative. This course may align with industry standards, transfer institutions and articulation agreements.  This course may also serve multiple purposes, optimizing the development of knowledge, skills, and habits of mind necessary in the pathway map while fulfilling general education requirements.

Recommended Prerequisite

A specific course, subject, or requirement NOT coded as a prerequisite in SIS that a student should complete in order to build the antecedent knowledge, skills and/or habits of mind necessary to be successful in another course in the sequence.

 

Required Course

A course within the pathway map that must be completed to achieve the certificate or degree awarded (e.g. certificate or associate) at the end of the pathway map. This course does not have a noted alternative. This course may align with industry standards, transfer institutions and articulation agreements.

Restricted Elective

A course which must be chosen from a specified group of courses to satisfy the certificate or degree awarded at the end of the pathway map. This course often serves multiple purposes, optimizing the development of knowledge, skills and habits of mind necessary in the pathway map while fulfilling general education requirements.
